Castilla La Mancha

Cuenca

One of the most striking towns in Spain. A beautiful fortified town is amazingly well preserved . The town rests on the steep sides of a mountain and the  “hanging houses” built right up to the cliff edge, literally takes your breath away when seeing it.

Toledo

Former Spanish capital , a town where the Muslims,  Christians and  Jewish communities  lived  together  centuries  ago. Good mix of synagogues, mosques churches and renaissance buildings. This city is a captivating UNESCO World Heritage Site. Behind the medieval walls, is the labyrinthine historic core of pretty cobblestone streets, with the most important historical landmarks in the city, including the 13th century High Gothic  Cathedral of St. Mary.

Alcázar of Toledo

Alcázar of Toledo is a stone fortification located in the highest point of Toledo.  A royal residence for Charles V, but by the time it was finished the court had moved to Madrid, and instead was where widowed queens would retire. Today, it is home to Spain’s national military museum
